MAY I reply to Mr Reg Wenn's letter 'Still fighting for health care equality'.
I may be a doubting Thomas Mr Wenn, I have my reasons for being one. I was one of many who campaigned over Doddington's closure.

If my memory is correct, people wanted the hospital wards to stay open, not to have to travel miles out of their way to see loved ones or wait ages to see a consultant.

The powers that be gave us, as you say, facilities at the hospital. How many are there Mr Wenn?

People are having to go elsewhere for treatment and to see a consultant.

Doddington had two surgical wards, two medical wards, children's ward, a theatre, a casualty, X-ray, physio, path lab, laundry, kitchen, and nurses home.

It was a training school too but, like everything else, it had to go because the powers that be needed the money for their big hospitals that no-one can reach.

It all comes down to money.

BW NOBBS,
Benwick Road,
Doddington.
